Bee Removal from Porch Column in Scottdale, GA – Problem, Solution & Transformation

The Problem

At a home on Lantern View Lane in Scottdale, GA, bees had entered a hollow porch column through a small gap in the trim near the base. This narrow entry led to a hidden hive deep inside the column, creating the risk of structural damage and an unsafe environment for the homeowners. Without intervention, the hive could expand, worsening the damage and making removal more difficult.

Our Solution

We began by removing the gutter and downspout attached to the porch column. This allowed us to carefully pry away one side of the column in a single intact piece, exposing the hive without damaging the structural integrity of the porch.

We removed the comb and attached it to frames using rubber bands, placing them into a hive body along with the bees and a feeder to support their relocation. The cavity inside the column was thoroughly cleaned to remove wax and honey residue — an important step to prevent future infestations. We then reassembled the column and reattached the gutter, restoring the porch to its original condition.

The Transformation

The porch is now structurally sound, the risk of reinfestation is eliminated, and the bees are thriving in a safe, managed hive. This process preserved the home’s appearance, protected the structure, and ensured the survival of an important pollinator colony.

We humanely remove and relocate bees, protecting your property and helping colonies thrive in managed hives.
